Class 5 - Driving Lessons | Qikiqtarjuaq | January 2026
The Class 5 driver training days will be divided 1-2 hour sessions of driving lessons with an experienced instructor. Each student will receive a minimum of 5 hours of one-on-one lessons. Students will learn the fundamentals skills of defensive driving. The instructor will schedule timeslots with the respective students to complete the driving hours over the duration of the course. Skills taught and reinforced will prepare the student to demonstrate all necessary skills tested on the Class 5 examination. Students must currently have a valid Class 7 license to join this course. Class 3 - Air Brakes | Arctic Bay | February 2026
This 20 day course provides students with the skills and knowledge to challenge the Class 3 theoretical examination and practical driving test to obtain a Class 3 driver license.The course covers both the theoretical knowledge and practical applications of using a Class 3 vehicle. Small Engine Repair | Kimmirut | February 2026
The Small Engine Repair course is a 6-day program designed to provide participants with practical knowledge and hands-on skills essential for maintaining and repairing small engines commonly used in northern communities. The course focuses on understanding how small engines operate and how to troubleshoot and fix common issues with equipment such as two-stroke and four-stroke engines powering skidoos, ATV's, and boat motors. Participants will learn core mechanical principles related to small engine function, including combustion, fuel and air systems, ignition, lubrication, and cooling systems. Emphasis will also be placed on routine maintenance practices, proper tool usage, and diagnosing mechanical problems efficiently. Safety is a key component of this course. Participants will be trained to recognize potential hazards, follow proper safety procedures, and use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly to reduce risks when working with tools and machinery. The course is highly practical, incorporating real-world scenarios and repairs that reflect the day-to-day challenges faced in local communities. Basic measurements, engine specifications, and diagnostic techniques will also be covered to ensure participants are confident in their skills. Instruction is provided by a certified Red Seal mechanic with experience teaching in remote and northern communities. While theoretical knowledge forms the foundation, the course emphasizes hands-on learning, allowing participants to work directly with engines and equipment to build real, transferable skills.
Class 7 - Student Driver Education | Resolute Bay | March 2026
The Class 7 course will be in class training that will run for 5 days. Topics covered include knowledge of the rules of the road and safety while operating a motor vehicle, understanding the basic standards for a vehicle and its components, learn safe driving practices and recognition of circulation signs, colors, and shapes. Heavy Equipment Operator | Taloyoak | March 2026
The 20-day course is designed to provide licensed drivers with enhanced safety and vehicle management skills, specifically related to operating heavy equipment vehicles such as loaders, dozers, graders, and others. This course aims to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical applications of using heavy equipment.To be eligible for the course, students must meet certain requirements. They need to be residents of the hamlet where the training is taking place, ensuring that the course benefits the local community. Additionally, students must hold a valid Class 5 driver's license for a minimum of one year before the start of the course.
Class 3 - Air Brakes | Kinngait | March 2026
