This course aims to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical applications of using heavy equipment.

Introduction to Mechanics

The Introduction to Mechanics course aims to provide practical knowledge and skills related to mechanics that are essential in various communities. The main objective of the course is to help the participants understand the basic mechanical concepts that underline many aspects of daily life, including force, motion, energy, and power. The course will also cover how to troubleshoot and repair common mechanical problems and develop skills in using hand and power tools.

Small Engine Repair

The Small Engine Repair course is a 6-day, hands-on program that equips participants with the essential skills to maintain and repair small engines commonly used in northern communities, such as those in skidoos, ATVs, and boat motors. Taught by a certified Red Seal mechanic experienced in remote settings, the course covers core mechanical principles, troubleshooting techniques, and safe tool use. With a strong focus on practical learning, participants will gain real-world experience diagnosing and repairing both two-stroke and four-stroke engines, preparing them to meet the mechanical needs of their communities.
